About

My poems have appeared in Poetry Northwest, The Margins, The Collagist, Pinwheel, Narrative Magazine, and others. My essays have appeared in Antipodes: A Global Journal of Australian/New Zealand Literature.

I am a Kundiman fellow from Seattle, WA who served as the inaugural Pacific Northwest Kundiman Regional Chair. I have lived all around the world, from Kotzebue, Alaska to Seoul, South Korea. I am a writer, educator, researcher, editor, and more. As a former teacher at the Young Writers Workshop at the University of Virginia, I conducted poetry workshops for talented high schoolers. I taught intensive courses in English composition as an adjunct professor at the prestigious Yonsei University’s Underwood International College, one of South Korea’s famed SKY schools.

I am curious about the world and seek to experience it through different perspectives. My work history varies from utility person at a start-up (production, shipping and receiving, customer service, etc) to bar tending, from university professor to freelance editor. I have conducted research and provided analysis reports for tech start-ups, and I have been a data entry specialist for social work organizations.

My interests, to name a few, include cooking, eating, movies and TV, hiking, snowboarding, motorcycles, wrestling, museums, music, literature, art, and travel.

I have a strong passion for writing and pushing myself beyond my comfort zones. Sometimes I thrive, sometimes I fail. When I thrive, I do my best to pay it forward. When I fail, I do my best to learn and go again.
